Writing University streams resume with Wapsipinicon Almanac reading

The Spring 2012 series of live literary streams on the University of Iowa’s Writing University website (www.writinguniversity.org) will begin with a sampling of the new issue of the Wapsipinicon Almanac at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20. The stream will originate in a free event at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City.

Publisher and editor Tim Fay of the Route 3 Press in rural Anamosa will be joined by contributors including Marion native Dan Kellams, Cedar Rapidians Beth Chacey DeBoom and Steve Gravelle, and Iowa Citians Thomas Southard and Winston Barclay.

Fay has produced the Wapsipinicon Almanac (roughly annually) using antique letterpress technology, since 1988. Each issue is a homey mix of fiction, reviews, essays, poetry, art, and practical information, packaged in the format and feel of a folksy, old-time almanac. Learn more at www.wapsialmanac.com.
