What: A performance by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, a.k.a. Stew & the Negro Problem, a rock band with a flair for biting social satire and witty wordplay.

When: 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 2

Where: The Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City

How much are tickets?: $25–$30 ($22.50–$27 for senior citizens; $12.50–$15 for youth; and $10–$27 for college students) through the Hancher Box Office, 319-335-1160 or 800-426-2437, www.hancher.uiowa.edu. Any remaining tickets will be available for sale one hour before show time at the Englert Theatre.

So they’re going to sing about Iowa City?: Of late, Stew and Heidi have been interested in traveling to new towns to create sets of songs based on those communities. Hancher commissioned the duo to do that very thing in Iowa City. The project is in keeping with Hancher’s longstanding tradition of commissioning new work from a wide array of artists.
