John Westefeld, a local psychologist, suicidologist, and professor of counseling psychology in the University of Iowa College of Education, will offer a free suicide prevention workshop for interested community members.
The workshop will be offered at two different times: 7–8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 7, and noon–1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16. Both workshops will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 2701 Rochester Avenue in Iowa City.
The workshop will cover three areas: warning signs; what to do if you are concerned about someone being suicidal; and a directory of local and national resources.
Though there is no cost to attend, preregistration is encouraged by calling Westefeld in advance at 319-335-5562 and leaving a message that you plan to attend. Or, those interested can send a note to email@example.com.
