Women who would like to be part of the “swarm” running out of the tunnel inside Kinnick Stadium to the tune of “Back in Black” can register for the 2012 Ladies Football Academy.
The event, which will be held on June 9 in Kinnick Stadium, is designed to provide women the opportunity to learn the game of football from members of the Iowa football coaching staff and to raise money for the UI Children’s Hospital.
Participants pay a registration fee of $50 and are required to raise an additional $500 for donation to the UI Children’s Hospital. In exchange, they’ll get to relax in the Indoor Club Level Press Box and tour the locker rooms of Kinnick Stadium, “swarm” the playing field at Kinnick and go through on-field drills led by the Hawkeye coaches. Following a segment by the Iowa strength and conditioning staff, the day will conclude with an awards ceremony.
The number of participants is limited. Special rates at local hotels are available for participants who elect to spend a night in Iowa City. For more information visit the academy’s official website, iowaladiesfootballacademy.com.
Interested participants can register online at iowaladiesfootballacademy.com/registration. Women who choose not to participate in the academy but do want to support the UI Children’s Hospital can do so by the UI Foundation website.
