The Old Capitol Museum at the University of Iowa will continue its “History Time” program at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10, with readings related to pioneer foods. The free public program will be held in Old Capitol’s Supreme Court Chamber.
Visitors will learn about the foods were eaten by early pioneers in Iowa, how food was preserved and prepared, and about daily life without modern conveniences. Readings by Old Capitol staff members will be followed by crafts and other activities for children ages 4 and up.
The Old Capitol Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays and national holidays.
