Beckwith Boathouse wins award

The Corridor Business Journal will recognize the University of Iowa’s P. Sue Beckwith, M.D., Boathouse project with an Environmental and Energy Leadership Award at the Journal’s Green Symposium on Friday, April 22, at the Cedar Rapids Marriott.

The Beckwith Boathouse project won in the green building, large project category and was nominated by Neumann Monson Architects.

Located on the bank of the Iowa River on North Dubuque Street in Iowa City, the Beckwith Boathouse opened in 2009. It is the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)–certified building on the UI campus, a designation reserved for energy-efficient buildings. It features an efficient geothermal heat pump system and daylight harvesting, and was built with significant use of local and recycled materials.
