CRWC to host Armbruster Open swim meet May 20–22

The Iowa Flyers Swim Club and University of Iowa Recreational Services are hosting the first annual David Armbruster Open, Friday–Sunday, May 20–22. The long course swim meet will be held at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC) on the UI campus.

The meet is named for former UI coach David Armbruster who, along with Iowa swimmer Jack Sieg, developed the modern butterfly stroke in the 1930s. To honor their contributions to the sport, special awards will be given to the swimmers with the highest combined USA Swimming individual points in their age group.

Swimmers competing are ages youth though college age.

The meet is full for competitors, but is free and open to the public to watch. For more information and competition times visit
