Old Capitol Museum will be hosting a University of Iowa DeGowin Blood Center blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 4.
Each week more than 600 blood products are transfused at UI Hospitals and Clinics. Cancer patients, surgical patients, prematurely born infants, people being treated for accident and trauma, recipients of marrow and organ transplants, and patients with diseases such as sickle cell anemia and hemophilia all depend on donated blood as part of their care.
Blood donations take about 45 minutes. Make an appointment at the DeGowin Blood Center web site (givesblood.org/go.php?bdc=207258), via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at 319-335-0548. Walk-ins also are welcome.
There will be a supervised activity table available for donors with children.
