Iowa Summer Writing Festival makes “The Eleventh Hour” open to the public

The University of Iowa’s Iowa Summer Writing Festival, which is celebrating its silver anniversary this year, invites the public to benefit from the expertise and talent of its faculty in “The Eleventh Hour,” free lectures, discussions, and panels at 11 a.m. each weekday that the festival is in session.

The hourlong events will be held in room 101 of Biology Building East, with the exception of the June 22 event with Michael Dennis Browne and the UI Maia String Quartet, which will be presented in the University Capitol Centre Recital Hall.

The initial week (June 13–17) will feature:

  • June 13: Dara Wier—Chance, Risk, and “Getting Away With It”
  • June 14: Doug Goetsch—The Uses of Embarrassment
  • June 15: Kyle Beachy—Time and Time Again and Time Once More
  • June 16: BK Loren—Process Is Practice: Making Your Writing Matter
  • June 17: faculty reading
