Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) and The University of Iowa have partnered to bring UI course work and degrees to NCC starting in fall 2011. UI president Sally Mason and NCC president Alethea Stubbe formalized the partnership Thursday, July 14, during a signing ceremony on the NCC campus in Sheldon. This is the 12th such partnership that the UI has created with a community college across the state.
Students who complete their Associate in Science (AS), Associate of Applied Science (AAS), or Associate of Arts (AA) may continue their education by enrolling in a UI degree program. NCC graduates may choose from four degree options: the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), the Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS), the Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS), and the RN-BSN degree.
The partnership also allows NCC students the option to pursue five different tracks within the Bachelor of Applied Studies degree: general studies, nonprofit management certificate, the entrepreneurial management certificate, human relations, and political science. UI Division of Continuing Education advisors will visit NCC and provide online support to help students plan a course of study to achieve their educational goals.
