UI physician reappointed to breast cancer surgery post

University of Iowa Health Care leaders announced today that they have reappointed Sonia Sugg as the Holden Associate Professor of Breast Cancer Surgery.

The endowed position was established to support the academic work of a faculty member who has a distinguished program in breast cancer surgery. Paul Rothman, dean of the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, said the appointment recognizes Sugg for her continued international prominence in her field, her outstanding academic achievements, and her numerous contributions to the UI Carver College of Medicine.

Sugg is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery. She serves as the medical director of the Breast Cancer Care Program and on the Endocrine Surgery Program team. She also is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
