University of Iowa Recreational Services will be offering a Competitive Tennis Camp for players age 8 to 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday–Thursday, Aug. 8–11, at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
Registration free is $105 for Recreational Services members and $115 for non-members. Registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 5; registration can be completed by visiting the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
The camp is designed for youth 8–18 who are capable of playing points on a full court or a 60-foot court. Kids should have USTA tournament or high school match play experience, or are aspiring to that level. The camp will feature stroke and strategy instruction, mental toughness seminars, tennis specific conditioning tips, videotaping, a camp tournament, a pizza party, and more.
All participants must bring a racquet. Only non-marking tennis shoes are allowed on the courts. Many black-soled shoes will mark the courts. Please bring a water bottle. A hat and/or sunscreen is recommended for all summer programs.
