The University of Iowa Art Museum (UIMA) will host its fourth First Friday reception, We Say “Oui!” to Art, from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5, in the hotelVetro lobby in downtown Iowa City.
For a $5 admission, attendees will receive one complimentary glass of wine and listen to tunes from DJ Craig Eley, who will be spinning the best of French pop from the ’60s and ’70s.
This event will feature a looped compendium of footage by Nam June Paik, a pioneering thinker often credited as one of the first video artists.
Local book artists, including Andrea Kohashi and the Museum of Art’s very own education assistant Christopher Merkle, will be displaying their wares and explaining their techniques.
