Carnival closes the book on I.C. reading program

The Iowa City Public Library celebrated the conclusion of its Summer Reading Program with a carnival extravaganza. Costumes and masks were designed by Loyce Arthur, professor of theatre arts in the University of Iowa Division of Performing Arts (housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences). Participants created their own masks and joined in a giant carnival parade on the pedestrian mall.
