UI booth at State Fair will feature Delta Center students on opening day

The Iowa State Fair kicks off Thursday, Aug. 11, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, and The University of Iowa plans to feature an exhibit on boosting children’s cognitive, physical, and creative growth.

The Delta Center, housed in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will host the “Brain Play” exhibit. Children visiting the Delta Center exhibit will be invited to play games with graduate students. Meanwhile, other grad students will talk with parents/caregivers about their roles as facilitators of learning.

If you venture away from the UI booth, you can find the Iowa Flood Center (IFC) interactive station in the Department of Natural Resources facility, highlighting the close partnership between the two organizations in Iowa’s efforts to better monitor and prepare for flooding. IFC staff and students will demonstrate IFC online tools, as well as bridge-mounted stream stage sensors.

The fair continues through Sunday, Aug. 21. Visit www.iowastatefair.org for more details about the Iowa State Fair.
