Women’s Resource and Action Center sponsors open house Aug. 23

The Women’s Resource and Action Center (WRAC) at The University of Iowa will hold its annual fall open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 at the center, located at 130 N. Madison St., in the blue house directly across from the Iowa Memorial Union. The event is free and open to the public.

There will be tours of the building, refreshments, and opportunities to meet staff members and volunteers and learn about the center’s services and activities. This will be the first opportunity to meet new director Linda Stewart Kroon, who served as interim director since 2009, and Megan Schwalm-Bell, the new Iowa National Education for Women (NEW) Leadership coordinator.

Among its services, which are available to UI students, faculty, and staff, as well as the general public, are information and referral, advocacy, support and discussion groups, individual counseling, and a wide variety of educational programs including seminars, workshops, festivals, and discussions.
