UI orthopedics program listed among national elite

Becker’s Hospital Review recently announced that its editors have selected University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for recognition as one of the publication’s “60 Hospitals with Great Orthopedic Programs.”

Hospitals on the list exhibit excellence in orthopedics, quality of service, outstanding local and national reputations, and high volume of orthopedic cases.

The services provided by the UI Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation include extremities care, spine surgery, joint replacement, and sports medicine. The department cares for more than 50,000 patients in its clinics each year and provides more than 5,000 orthopedic procedures annually.

In addition to ranking among the top hospitals for orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report, the hospital also was named among the best in the nation in orthopedic care for children.
