Maybe I Should Have, a documentary about the 2008 collapse of Iceland’s economy, will be screened at 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 29, at the Bijou Theater in the Iowa Memorial Union on the University of Iowa campus.
Director Gunnar Sigurdsson will attend the screening, along with Lilja Mósesdóttir, a member of Iceland’s parliament and a 1994 UI economics graduate.
The film, released in February, documents the corruption, cronyism, and nepotism in the Icelandic economy, and how the privatization of the banking system led to the collapse. It also shows how Iceland’s government reacted to warning signs leading up to the banking system’s crash.
Admission is free and open to the public. More information about the film is available at argoutfilm.com/english.
