Museum of Art is looking for volunteer gallery hosts

The University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) is looking for volunteers to serve as gallery hosts for the exhibition Ere Ibeji: Yoruba Twin Figures from the Collection of J. Richard Simon, which runs Sept. 2–Oct. 17 in the Iowa Memorial Union’s Black Box Theater.

Gallery hosts serve two-and-a-half-hour shifts Tuesday through Sunday during public hours and are responsible for greeting visitors, monitoring the art on display, and answering basic questions about the exhibition.

A one-hour training session will be provided to train and educate volunteers about the exhibition. Volunteers should expect to complete 10 hours of service after training.

UI students can apply volunteer time toward the 10,000 Hours Show of Eastern Iowa, an organization that engages young people in volunteer service.
