Iowa Flood Center participates in NSF event in D.C.

Representatives of the Iowa Flood Center at The University of Iowa will participate in the National Science Foundation’s “Hazards Event on the Hill,” Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the Senate Hart Office Building in Washington, D.C.

Participants will include Witek Krajewski, director, Iowa Flood Center; Larry Weber, director, IIHR—Hydroscience & Engineering; and Luciana Cunha, a doctoral candidate in civil and environmental engineering.

The Iowa Flood Center representatives plan to highlight their work in helping to address the needs of Iowa communities for more technical assistance to better anticipate and prepare for floods.

Created by the Iowa General Assembly following the historic 2008 Iowa floods, the Iowa Flood Center is the nation’s first academic center devoted solely to the study of floods. It helps communities across Iowa better prepare for and monitor floods.
