Sept. 17 marks the 224th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, the defining outline of the United States government and the source of rights, freedoms, and responsibilities of citizens. A reading of the Constitution by U.S. Army cadets will take place at noon, Friday, Sept. 16, in the Hubbard Commons of the Iowa Memorial Union.
Throughout the week of Sept. 12–17, pocket-sized copies of the Constitution will be available (while supplies last) at the north circulation desk of the University of Iowa Main Library, the Java House on Washington Street, T-Spoons, Capanna, and Fair Grounds. The aforementioned coffee houses also will offer beverages or food with Constitution-related themes.
