Movie screens lighting up around UI campus

Wanna see a movie on or near the University of Iowa campus? You have options.

The UI International Writing Program will host the latest installment of its IWP Cinematheque series at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, in room E105 of Adler Journalism Building. Admission is free. IWP Cinematheque is an informal film series curated by the IWP writers in residence, who introduce and lead conversations around films they have chosen to show to the UI community.

The Campus Activities Board will show Fast Five at 10 p.m., Thursday–Saturday, Sept. 22–24, in the Illinois Room of the Iowa Memorial Union. Admission is $2.

The Bijou Cinema, the University’s student-run movie house in the Iowa Memorial Union, will continue its fall slate with screenings of The Guard and Better This World Friday–Sunday, Sept. 23–25, and Tuesday–Thursday, Sept. 27–29. Admission is $7 (free for UI students with valid UI ID).

And the Englert Midnight Movie Series, presented by Campus Activities Board and the Bijou, will feature the David Lynch film Blue Velvet on Saturday, Sept. 24, in the historic Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City. Admission is $3 (free for UI students).
