Morrissey to speak on disability rights

David Morrissey, executive director of the U.S. International Council on Disabilities (USICD), will speak about national and global efforts for disability rights at a Brown Bag Lunch from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, in room 1117 in University Capitol Centre, next to the International Programs office.

Morrissey will discuss the growing global movement for disability rights, as well as national efforts to ensure inclusion for people with disabilities. He also will present information on careers in the field of disability rights. This event is open to the public, and a sign language interpreter will be available. WiderNet staff will provide drinks and cookies.

Morrissey’s visit highlights the launch of the offline digital Global Disability Rights Library, a collaboration involving the WiderNet Project of the University of Iowa, USICD, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
