Art historian Swan to speak on exoticism and Dutch culture

Art historian Claudia Swan from Northwestern University will speak on “Exoticism and Dutch Culture in a Global Context, 1600–1650,” at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, in W151 Pappajohn Business Building on the University of Iowa campus.

The lecture, sponsored by the UI School of Art and Art History, is free and the public is invited to attend.

Swan is the author of Art, Science, and Witchcraft in Early Modern Holland: Jacques de Gheyn II, which studies the intersection of empiricism and witchcraft in Holland in the early 17th century.
