Janelle Monáe, fun. to perform at IMU

SCOPE Productions will present a performance by Janelle Monáe and fun. as part of the Campus Consciousness Tour. The concert will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12, in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union.

Tickets are $24 ($21 for UI students) and are available at the University Box Office in the Iowa Memorial Union or through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com).

Monáe’s soul-infused R&B received critical acclaim following the release of her 2010 album The ArchAndroid, which spawned successful singles such as “Tightrope.” She earned two Grammy nods for Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best Urban/Alternative Performance.

No strangers to Iowa City, fun. performs indie-pop tunes described to have a quirky-cool aesthetic. Songs such as “Walking the Dog” and “At Least I’m Not as Sad (As I Used to Be)” have found crossover success with fans of various genres.
