UI faculty, Writers’ Workshop alumni to read at Prairie Lights

University of Iowa Spanish and Portuguese faculty members Roberto Ampuero and Luis Humberto Crosthwaite and Writers’ Workshop poetry alumni Nathan Hoks and Wayne Miller will be featured during a busy week of Writing University (www.writinguniversity.org) live literary streams from Prairie Lights Books Sunday–Friday, Oct. 9-14.

The readings are as follows:

  • Robert Morgan will read from Lions of the West, an account of Americans who pursued Manifest Destiny, at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9.
  • Poets Lily Brown and Travis Nichols will read at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 10.
  • Iowa Writers’ Workshop alumnus Hoks will sample Reveilles, his debut poetry collection, in a reading with Miller at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13.
  • Ampuero and Crosthwaite will present a Spanish literary recital at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14. The reading will be preceded by a reception beginning at 6 p.m.
