UI professors involved with immigration documentary

Three University of Iowa professors were part of a documentary making its broadcast debut on Iowa Public Television (IPTV). Train to Nowhere: Inside an Immigrant Death Investigation by Paul Kakert and Colleen Bradford Krantz will air on IPTV at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 12.

Mark Blumberg, UI professor of psychology, and Kevin Kregel, UI professor of health and human physiology, both in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, were interviewed for the documentary. UI College of Law professor Barbara A. Schwartz served as a humanities advisor for Kakert and Krantz through a grant they received from Humanities Iowa.

The hourlong documentary explores what happened when the bodies of 11 undocumented immigrants from Central America and Mexico were found inside a locked railcar in Denison, Iowa, in 2002.
