Holden center honored for imaging excellence

Leaders of Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa and the UI Department of Radiology jointly announced that Iowa’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center is now a Center of Quantitative Imaging Excellence (CQIE).

Advanced imaging plays a pivotal role in cancer care by helping to detect tumors early and in guiding therapy as well as subsequent disease monitoring and surveillance. The NCI awarded the designation to Holden because of the high quality and capabilities of the center’s medical imaging technology, its multidisciplinary cancer therapy, and clinical trials teams.

This program will significantly enhance the consistent high quality of advanced imaging procedures while a patient is undergoing treatment as part of an NCI-sponsored clinical trial. CQIE is also designed to help streamline the operational efficiency of the clinical trials process.
