Disability celebration to be held Oct. 28

The 2011 University of Iowa Disability Celebration will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, in Room S401 of Pappajohn Business Building on the UI campus.

The celebration is free and open to the public.

The program will feature the presentation of the Braverman Award and the Above and Beyond Award, and recognition of disability-related accomplishments.

Attendees are welcome to stay for the Council on Disability Awareness Writing Contest and Reception, which will run from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Judges will share a few words about the winning entries, and the winners will read their pieces.

This event is sponsored by the UI Chief Diversity Office, the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity, the Council on Disability Awareness, Disability Planning and Action Committee, Faculty and Staff Disability Services, and Student Disability Services.
