Estes to perform Oct. 29 as part of Iowa Latino Conference

Internationally renowned bass-baritone Simon Estes will perform as part of An Evening of Music and Dance at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 as the special guest of the 13th Iowa Latino Conference, sponsored by the University of Iowa School of Social Work in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Estes will sing with a local youth choir and Muscatine native, tenor Juan Carlos Mendoza. Mendoza holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from The Juilliard School where he studied with W. Stephen Smith, and recently completed a Master of Arts degree in vocal performance from Iowa, where he studied under John Muriello.

The performance will also showcase four dance companies, including contemporary ballet company A Poc A Poc from Mexico.

The event will be held at Central Middle School, 901 Cedar St. in Muscatine, Iowa. Tickets are $10 (12 and under attend at no charge) and can be purchased at the door. For more information about the conference schedule and performers, go to www.iowalatinoconference.org.
