When school’s out, kids can get active with UI Rec Services

University of Iowa Recreational Services is offering opportunities for local children and their families to swim, climb, and more during no-school days this winter.

Non-members will be able to use the Field House facilities, including basketball, badminton, volleyball, and racquetball courts, at the family rate ($5 for adults, $3 for children ages 4 to 17) on the following days: Nov. 11, Feb. 20, Feb. 27 (tentative), Feb. 28, and April 27.

The Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC) will offer extended hours for its leisure pool on those dates and Nov. 23-25 to coincide with Thanksgiving Break. The CRWC also will offer Climbing Wall Try Climbs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 11. Normal walk-in rates will apply at the CRWC for nonmembers ($7 for adults, $5 for children ages 4 to 17). Try Climbs are $3 per climb, and include equipment rental and assistance from climbing staff. No appointment is necessary.

Children ages 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times in both facilities.
