Committee named for research/economic development VP search

The University of Iowa has formed a search committee to look for a successor to Vice President for Research and Economic Development Jordan Cohen, who will retire in summer 2012.

The search committee will be co-chaired by Patricia Winokur, professor and associate dean for clinical and translational science in the UI Carver College of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine; and Larry Weber, Edwin B. Green Chair in Hydraulics and professor of civil and environmental engineering in the College of Engineering and director of IIHR-Hydroscience & Engineering.

Committee members include Mark Anderson (Carver College of Medicine), Marc Armstrong (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), Ann Campbell (College of Business), William Clarke (College of Public Health), Charles Connerly (Graduate College), Sue Curry (College of Public Health), David Drake (College of Dentistry), Nicole Grosland (College of Engineering), George Hospodarsky (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), Dorothy Johnson (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), Lina Maria Moreno Uribe (College of Dentistry), Kyle Oskvig (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), Toni Tripp-Reimer (College of Nursing), Diane Slusarski (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), Alexander Somek (College of Law), and Mickey Wells (College of Pharmacy).

The committee will work over the winter and spring on a national search. UI President Sally Mason hopes to name a replacement at the end of the spring 2012 semester.
