University of Iowa staff and faculty interested in developing leadership skills related to diversity and inclusion can attend a free, all-day workshop, thanks to the UI Chief Diversity Office.
The office recently established an affiliate of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI), a nonprofit organization that provides leadership training for diversity and inclusion with the goal of eliminating all forms of prejudice throughout the world.
Two upcoming “Leadership for Inclusion and Equity” workshops, hosted by the UI School of Social Work, still have openings and will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Nov. 30 and Dec. 2, in Room 332 of North Hall on the UI campus.
To be added to either of these two workshops, contact Diversity Resources Coordinator Lindsay Jarratt in the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity in the Chief Diversity Office at 319-335-0705 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The workshop is highly interactive and hands on, and is definitely not your typical “diversity training.”
Offices and departments can request the training, or individuals can sign up through Learning and Development in Employee Self-Service for the spring workshops, which are Feb. 2 and March 2. They hope to offer the training to students at the end of next semester.
