Paintings, ceramics, photography, and other original artwork will be on sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, during the annual Holiday Thieves’ Art Market in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Each year hundreds of artists from across the Midwest and beyond compete to exhibit and sell their work at the Thieves’ Market. The Thieves’ Markets are coordinated and sponsored by the UI Fine Arts Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the arts at the university.
A wine tasting will be held in conjunction with the Holiday Thieves’ Art Market from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, in the North Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union. It is free and open to the public. However, donations are encouraged and will go to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. Wine vendors that will be present at the event are Johnson Brothers (Gallo Division), Moon Valley Vineyards, Okoboji Wines, and Best Case Wines.
