UI Youth Ballet performs winter concert Dec. 17–18

The University of Iowa Youth Ballet will perform its winter concert at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18, in Space Place Theater of North Hall on the UI campus.

The young dancers in the UI Department of Dance’s community program will perform ballet works choreographed by Youth Ballet director Jason Schadt and Dance Forum director Kathryn Smith, and faculty members Ashley Herrington, Peggy Mead-Finizio, Mareva Minerbi, and Steven Gray.

The program includes excerpts from The Nutcracker, a work set to the new CD by pianist Dan Knight, a ballet based on a folk dance, a seasonal piece titled “First Snow,” and a contemporary ballet.

Admission is $12 ($6 for senior citizen and youth; $5 for UI student with a valid UI ID). Remaining tickets will be on sale at the door one hour before each performance.
