Grads in gowns cap the fall semester

Commencement ceremonies for many fall semester University of Iowa graduates will be held Friday–Saturday, Dec. 17–18.

Ceremonies will be held as follows:

The UI College of Education will host a teacher education convocation at 4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17, in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge. The event is by invitation only and ticket reservations are required. Visit www.education.uiowa.edu/tess/Convocation.htm for more information.

The Tippie School of Management will hold its MBA commencement celebration at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17, in the Coralville Marriott Hotel and Convention Center.

The Graduate College will hold its commencement ceremony at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17, in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Ceremonies will be held for undergraduates from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), Tippie College of Business, College of Nursing, University College, and Carver College of Medicine at 9 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The College of Engineering will hold its ceremony at noon, Saturday, Dec. 18, in Macbride Hall Auditorium.

Following is the University of Iowa Television (UITV) playback schedule for 2010 December commencement ceremonies:

  • UI Graduate College commencement: 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18; and 2 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 19.
  • UI undergraduate commencement ceremonies for students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Tippie College of Business, College of Nursing, University College, and Carver College of Medicine: 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18; and 4 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 19.
  • UI College of Engineering: 10 a.m., 4 p.m., and 10 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 19.

Those who would like to purchase a DVD copy of any previous commencement ceremony should send their name, address, the ceremony they would like to have, and a check payable to The University of Iowa for $25 to: UITV, 23 Lindquist Center, The University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA 52242, Attention: Program Manager. Allow four to six weeks for processing DVD copies. VHS tapes are no longer available.

UITV is a cable programming service available to cable television viewers on campus and in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Coralville, and surrounding communities.
